CSCS Poker Night 2009
I have trouble remembering events that happened recently.
I have trouble finding the right word…
I forget where things are usually kept…
I find it hard to follow and join in conversations…
Some of us will answer “Sometimes” or “Often” to the above questions.
Some may think that being forgetful here and there is a joke, some small laughing matter but there are thousands of Australians who suffer from Alzheimer’s Disease, one of the forms of dementia, every single day.
It’s a serious disease with long term pain and suffering for the victims and their family and friends. Yet, why do we hear so little about it? Is it just because the pain doesn’t come swiftly, that it sets in slowly over time which relegates it to the murky depths of our medical knowledge?
Did you know, without any new medical breakthroughs, by 2050, 5% of Australia’s population will suffer from the disease? Or that dementia will become our nation’s #1 healthcare spending item in the next few years?
It’s time to lend a hand to all those in need. Come join in a fun game of Poker to raise money for Alzheimer’s Australia as we train our brains to ward of this terrible ailment!
